Viraj Govani

Viraj Govani is a medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine pursuing an M.D./M.S. dual degree with a concentration in Reconstruction and Regeneration. He graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and Psychology. His research focuses on plastic and reconstructive surgery, particularly craniofacial surgery, gender-affirming surgery, and surgical outcomes.


Viraj is a Research Fellow in the UPMC Plastic Surgery CranioLab and has contributed to research on craniosynostosis, pediatric orbital fractures, gender-affirming surgery, breast reconstruction, and body contouring. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at national plastic surgery conferences. He also serves as Vice President of his medical school class, a Surgery Clerkship Senior Mentor and Skills Preceptor, and is involved in community initiatives to improve access to surgical care.
