Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day " is an awareness campaign designed to promote public education, patient care and research."
Dr. Carolyn De La Cruz has been leading efforts for our Department of Plastic Surgery for the last 10 years. Each year she organizes a BRA day event bringing together the community. Local artists are commissioned to create works of art that tell stories of breast reconstruction. This event has been widely successful and has increased awareness across the city. It is one of the highlights of Breast Cancer Awareness month each October in Pittsburgh.
