Lauriane Pinto, MD, is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Lymphatics Biology Lab under Dr. Carolyn De La Cruz and Dr. Kacey Marra. Her research bridges basic and clinical approaches to lymphedema to advance prevention, surveillance, and management through innovative imaging and lymphatic surgery.
Lauriane earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, where she received the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Certificate of Distinction. During medical school, she served as President of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School Emory Chapter. In this role, she founded the Emory IHI Case Competition and established the Emory-Georgia Tech Biomedical Engineering Clinical Collaboration to accelerate interdisciplinary innovation in healthcare delivery and translational research.
Before pursuing medicine, Lauriane spent five years as a healthcare and life sciences strategy consultant at Health Advances and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She advised organizations across the healthcare ecosystem on the development and commercialization of novel medical technologies, including biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health services.
Lauriane received her BS in Biology from Duke University, graduating with Honors and Departmental Distinction. She was also awarded the James B. Rast Award in Comparative Organismal Biology in recognition of her academic achievements.
Across these experiences, Lauriane has developed a multidisciplinary perspective at the intersection of medicine and biomedical innovation, with a longstanding interest in translating scientific advances into meaningful improvements in patient care.
