Dr. Dawn J. Wang is currently an Assistant Professor of the faculty of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is appointed Chief of Plastic Surgery at UPMC St. Margaret’s Hospital, and is the Co-Director of the Center for Nerve Disorder at UPMC. Her practice encompasses the entire field of Plastic Surgery. Her operative interests include breast and reconstructive surgery, aesthetic surgery, peripheral nerve and hand surgery.
Dr. Wang completed her undergraduate degrees in studio art and chemistry from Indiana University. She also completed her masters in medical science from Wayne State University where she dedicated her research time at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center. She then received her medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed her plastic and reconstructive surgical residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Following residency, she joined a private practice in Belleville, Illinois before joining the faculty of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UPMC.
Dr. Wang’s research interests include quality and patient safety in plastic surgery, and she is the Chair of the Plastic Surgery patient safety committee. She is also involved in several clinical research projects at the Mercy Wound Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
