James Russavage, MD, DMD

  • Clinical Professor

Dr. James Russavage is trained in dentistry, oral surgery, and plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Russavage plays a critical role in head and neck reconstruction, performing complex head and neck reconstructions for our Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which happens to be the largest such department in the nation.  Dr. Russavage also plays a prominent role in the microvascular reconstruction of lower extremity defects for the Department of Orthopedics.  He works in conjunction with the Neurosurgery Department to reconstruct defects of the cranium and spine and the Thoracic Surgery Department to do chest wall reconstruction. In addition, he does abdominal wall reconstruction with our General Surgery Department.

Dr. Russavage currently offers surgical evaluations for patients at Falk Clinic, Isalys Aesthetic Center, and UPMC East; the most intricate problems from this practice are then brought to the University Hospitals for care and coordination.  In addition to his multifaceted reconstructive surgery, Dr. Russavage also provides a wide based aesthetic practice including breast augmentation, rhinoplasties, tummy tucks, liposuction, face lifts, abdominoplasty, and upper and lower blepharoplasty.

Dr. Russavage has had a longstanding role in educating the future aesthetic and reconstructive surgeons in the operating room as well as in the clinical office. Many residents seek his advice as pursuing their careers after residency.
