Alexander J. Comerci

Alexander J. Comerci is a medical student and clinical research fellow with the Department of Plastic Surgery. During the 2023-2024 academic year, he is performing clinical outcomes research with a focus on body contouring and burn topics while completing a Master of Science in Clinical Research through the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education. Alex is a Pittsburgh native and former graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. As an undergraduate student, he spent two years with the Department of Surgery at UPMC where he conducted translational research exploring the tumor microenvironment under Dr. Samer Tohme. Additionally, he spent a year working as a clinical research associate with the Multidisciplinary Acute Care Research Organization (MACRO) at the University of Pittsburgh where he assisted with the coordination, enrollment, and management of patients in clinical studies. His other interests include film photography, sculpture, running, hiking, and exploring new restaurants in the city.
